The start to the year has been typical of Australian summers, floods in NQ,  fires in Victoria and truckloads of hay heading to SA. So I’m feeling very fortunate here at Nobby, my main worry a pack of wild dogs marauding around the district! Having only ten sheep left I’m able to keep them close to the house so they’re safe at present. Drying off recently but some good crops around this year. The sorghum crops below are opposite my place, the later one was watered last week.

 

 

I’ve had a busy month with eight pups to feed early on but about fifteen later in January. Two Naka pups have gone to their new homes and we are keeping two for a few months. McKenzie’s five are almost old enough to leave. As usual some people have got one elsewhere and others want to wait for the next litters. It can be frustrating because I’ve turned people down, thinking they were booked.

Maybe our ability to be patient isn’t as good as it used to be, TV channels are so keen on getting us to “binge” everything! Remember when we used to look forward to seeing what happened next week? The present new series of Muster Dogs is a case in point, and I think my viewing habits are back in the dark ages as everyone I’ve spoken to today has recorded it or watched it on iView!

I had the pleasure of a long conversation about kelpies with the WA contestant, Blythe, yesterday morning. At the time I had no idea who she was; we spoke about the programme and I said I thought I might watch The Voice!!!!!! Luckily I didn’t…well, I flicked around as usual…and was hugely impressed and apologised via text. She was one of the highlights, in my opinion at least, a lovely lady.

I must admit to feeling for the poor bitch that had to lick sand off ten pups. That’s if she did! You need to be aware of the tricks of manipulation in any media form these days, it’s so easy to edit film.

I’m hoping Min is in pup to Landy, I brought her back from Texas last week. Lovely bitch. Pics below.

As usual quite a few bitches came on heat quite close together despite being spread out a bit from Trangie to Texas to Nobby! Gossip has been mated to Barney, Speedy and Libby to Snooker and Min to Landy.

I’ll put pedigrees etc on the pups for Sale page.

Snooker also mated Ginny(Wills x Gemma) last week. She was to go to Landy but sadly he got into trouble with grass seeds and had a vet trip. Snooker’s grown into a lovely big dog, very light on his feet.

 

Marina and Bob are having a lot of trouble selling goats with big mobs being cleared from out West. Anyone wanting some for any reason, contact me and I’ll put you in touch. I brought home a lovely lot of meat for the dogs. Thanks Bob!

I tend to forget Midnight’s three girls up north. One is certainly a tough cookie!

I spent some time with Justice on Australia Day, he really is a nice pup, I’ll just have to pretend he’s a different colour!!

Time to go and feed up!
